As a new model of the best-selling crossover, 2019 Volvo XC60 will have a tough task to improve the crossover range. It is not easy since the most changes are starting with the biggest SUV in lineup XC90. However, for 2019 many updates are announced, and we are sure all fans will like them.
First of all, bosses in Volvo told about hybrid drivetrains. Development of three systems will get its premiere in 2019. There will be three plug-in engines. We believe that Volvo XC60 will get a mid-range one. Furthermore, the company is always trying to improve the safety of their vehicle. Since Volvo is offering probably all conventional features, now they are going to develop autonomous driving. Will this system be available for 2019, we still must wait to see.
2019 Volvo XC60 Hybrid
It is almost certain that we will see some of the Volvo’s cars in a hybrid version very soon. Among them is 2019 Volvo XC60 crossover. There are three options for plug-in model, and we can only guess which of them is to be used for a compact crossover. The first one is T5 model, which combines petrol unit with Li-ion electric battery. This combo is good for 240 hp, and we believe it is not enough for 2019 XC60.
Another possibility is mid-range T6. This hybrid brings turbo or supercharger. Comparing to T5, it is more powerful. It can make 315 horsepower. Also, instead of front-wheel drive T6 is using the only all-wheel drive. This seems like perfect fit for XC60. Finally, the most powerful plug-in hybrid is going to be T8. Turbocharged and supercharged, it can burst over 410 hp. This simply is too much power for entry-level class. So, T8 is unlikely for Volvo XC60.
2019 Volvo XC60 Autonomous Driving
There are four levels of autonomous drives. Volvo is currently on Level 2. Their Pilot Assist II can be compared to Tesla’s system. However, company chiefs recently announced improvements in this segment. It will lead to a fully-autonomous Level 4 and extremely safe car.
The 2019 Volvo XC60 crossover will get a suite that includes driving systems, but the driver must keep hands close to the wheel. Next level brings higher autonomy, but still, needs driver’s monitoring. Finally, full autonomy is the last stage of the process, with advanced notifications when for drivers to take over.
2019 Volvo XC60 Features and Equipment
Changes on the 2019 Volvo XC60 will be visible at the first sight. First of all, the crossover is bigger in every way. Lower, longer, and wider, it reminds us of XC90. However, this will add more space inside the cabin. Not only that comfort is improved, but also the safety. One of the features which are relatively new is automatic braking. Now, it is much improved.
Luxurious vehicles are always offering premium features inside the cabin. Volvo is doing this with the latest B&W sound system. There will be 15 speakers, for audio similar to custom tuned cars.
When is new Volvo XC60 coming?
The Swedish carmaker is popular both in the US and in Europe. We will see 2019 Volvo XC60 on both continents. However, it is obvious that North America is more important for Volvo. So, they will launch a new crossover in New York, Philadelphia, or Phoenix.
