Audi is going to refresh their crossover lineup for 2019 season. After compact Q3, we found out that German carmaker is preparing bigger Q7. This model is very popular among 7-seaters, so revisit is going to revive interest. Fans can expect the 2019 Audi Q7 during 2018, probably in mid-year months.
Surely, one of the things engineers had to fix is fuel economy. Yes, this is a big SUV, 20/25 mpg city/highway rating is pretty bad. However, Audi is not going to replace the 2.0 turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. With some improvements on the current version, cosmetic changes which lead to better aerodynamics, and more usage of lightweight materials, 2019 Q7 could gain 1 or 2 mpg for a combined drive.
2019 Audi Q7 Engine and Specs
As we mentioned before, upcoming 2019 Audi Q7 will use the same drivetrain as its predecessor. From a 2.0-l 4-cylinder unit, the crossover can get 250 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. The new version will deliver the same amount of power and twisting force. However, this is somehow disappointing for the turbocharged unit. On the other hand, it delivers a poor fuel economy. Engineers will have a lot of work before the release date to complete all changes and fix these issues.
Audi Q7 goes All-Electric Instead of Hybrid
While every fan and enthusiast are waiting for confirmation about a plug-in hybrid variant of Q7, it seems like Audi has new plans. Instead of a combination of petrol engine and electric batteries, the SUV could use only batteries as the drivetrain. It is also believed that Q6 could appear with fuel-cell.
2019 Audi Q7 Revisit and Cosmetic Changes
The highlight of big crossovers is a big horizontal chrome grille. For 2019 Audi Q7 this part could be slightly smaller. Also, narrower SUV is likely to happen. Besides these changes, no other significant modification is expected outside the vehicle. However, the vehicle is going to be lighter due to more usage of aluminum and carbon fiber.
On the other hand, the interior has to be updated. Infotainment features and interior parts are certain. Also, designers will introduce new seating layout. While driver and passengers in front and second-row seats won’t feel too much difference, travelers in the third row get extra space. Also, foldable seats will provide more room for storage, if needed.
There will be three trim levels for 2019 Audi Q7. Entry-level is Premium. However, we still don’t know if German carmaker is going to keep the 3.0-l engine. That would be another option for Premium and Premium Plus trims. Finally, top of the class is Prestige version.
2019 Audi Q7 Release Date and Price
While the base model is coming without many changes, upper trim levels are bringing more infotainment features and safety equipment. Also, these luxurious items will make SUV much more expensive from the initial price of $50,000. Premium Plus model costs at least $5,000, while Prestige is hi-lux crossover whose cost will probably stop somewhere around $70,000.
As for the last edition, new Audi Q7 will be available in US market. Dealerships are going to offer this crossover early in 2019. Premiere and unveiling of new equipment will probably happen late in 2018. But, since there are no big changes, 2019 Q7 SUV could come quietly.
