Unlike most competitors in the compact crossover class, the 2018 VW T-Roc has a four-wheel drive. We’ve been waiting for a long time to see the smallest crossover in the Volkswagen lineup. This model is so important for the German company. They managed to keep all the details as a secret until the unveiling in October 2017. There were not even spy photos on the internet.
No one expected this amount of originality when it comes to design. Many parts and solutions are borrowed from its Audi Q2 sibling. With this model 2018 T-Roc shares mechanics and a good portion of aesthetics features. So far, everyone agrees that the look of the new crossover was not boring at all.
2018 VW T-Roc Design Impressions
Volkswagen’s designers succeeded in making a recognizable conservative aesthetics SUV. Although it belongs to the B segment, the 2018 VW T-Roc is not small at all. On the contrary, we could say it represents the ideal ratio of the cabin and trunk spaciousness compared to the outer dimensions.
For some reason, just as with Audi Q2, rigid plastic is placed in the upholstery of the door and on the dashboard. Like the other larger Volkswagens, the VW T-Roc has a digital instrument panel. The company announced that an integral part of the basic configuration will be an air-conditioning system and touchscreen display. Outside, LED daytime running lights and rear lights are standard.
2018 VW T-Roc Engine Lineup
This information is still unconfirmed. We assume that the smaller brother of Tiguan will have three petrol and three diesel engines. Few things are certain, and one of them is a front-wheel drive as a standard offer. Manual transmission with a seven-speed, robotic DSG gearbox is the most likely to appear on the 2018 VW T-Roc.
The basic offer will be a crossover with a 1.0 TSI engine, capable to deliver 115 hp. A new 1.5-liter TSI petrol engine with cylinder shut-off technology is the second option. Also, we can see diesel engines as the well-known 1.6-liter TDI and 2.0-l TDI units. Most importantly, 2018 T-Roc will also be available in the 4Motion All-Wheel-Drive version, which is another thing that makes it different from the competition. All this is possible thanks to the design of the modular MQB mechanical platform that it shares with other, larger VW models.
2018 VW T-Roc Safety
Volkswagen’s engineers claim that the basic version of 2018 VW T-Roc will have very rich safety equipment. Furthermore, the automatic braking system will be standard, including cameras to identify pedestrians. The basic offer also includes automatic braking after a collision to avoid further problems. Lane departure alert is another part of the safety system.
2018 VW T-Roc Price
Owners of the new 2018 Volkswagen T-Roc will have many options to personalize the vehicle. Starting from the two-tone bodywork to the interior decorative panels, there are also four colors available in the Style package of equipment. On the other hand, the Sport package will have sports accessories. The launch of the new 2018 VW T-Roc was in November and the first copies will reach their owners early in 2018. Starting price for the compact crossover is $25,000.
