After the revelation of the spy shots of its upcoming 2018 Volvo XC40, the prototype model has been spotted. The upcoming model was previewed by the company’s 40.1 concept car in 2016. It is quite clear that the production version is not much different from the concept version. Like the upcoming compact models from the stable of Volvo, the 2018 XC 40 will be based on Compact Modular Architecture platform. So, it will be equipped with advanced technologies including autonomous driving and connectivity. It will be pitted against rivals like Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1, and Audi Q3.
2018 Volvo XC40 – Innovation and New Look:
The upcoming 2018 XC40 comes with typical Volvo design elements like Thor’s Hammer LED headlights and grille up front. It does bear design resemblances with its larger sibling, XC 90. Even the back side looks similar. However, the tail and headlamps may be slightly different. Not much is known about its cabin but it is expected to be designed lavishly. Features like dual zone climate control are likely as is ambient lighting.
Volvo is likely to load the 2018 Volvo XC40 with the latest tech and safety features. You can expect the car to be laden with amenities like heated front seats, cruise control, and latest infotainment system. The expected safety features are stability control, rearview camera, and blind-spot monitor.
2018 Volvo XC40 – Drivetrain Configuration:
Volvo will offer quite a few engine options for the Volvo XC40 2018, as per the industry sources. Base trims will be powered by a new 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine, which will be offered in both diesel and gasoline versions. However, top trim may get a plug-in hybrid unit with an electric motor and a gasoline unit. Their outputs are 74 hp and 180 hp respectively. The engines will be mated to a dual-clutch seven-speed automatic gearbox. Reportedly, the car will cover about 30 miles in all-electric mode.
2018 Volvo XC40 – Price and Expected Release Date:
The 2018 XC40 from Volvo is expected to be priced around £25,000 for the base trim. However, a top trim price may inch closer to £35,000. It will be made available for sale in late 2017.
Volvo XC 40 2018 is going to be an interesting vehicle, as it seems from revelations. However, it will have to cope with several popular rivals. Volvo needs to price the model reasonably to succeed.
