The upcoming 2018 Mercedes-Maybach GLS SUV has been announced by no other than CEO Dr. Dieter Zetsche and ever since the industry is abuzz with speculations regarding is design and features. SUVs are probably the most loved vehicles these days and the segmentation in SUV sector is also worth noting. Of late, ultra-luxury SUV models are taking the global automobile scene by storm. Ever since Bentley released its flagship luxury SUV Bentayga, rivals have been at its heels! Mercedes Benz the iconic German luxury automaker could not sit idle and that explains why the Maybach GLS SUV has been finalized by the company. A lot of details are yet to be fixed but it will lock horns with rivals like the Bentayga and upcoming Rolls Royce Cullinan.

The luxury SUV will be modeled on the company’s existing GLS SUV but with more enticing styling. The grille will get plenty of chrome and the well-known company logo in the middle position. However, it will be a 4 or 5 seater, unlike the regular GLS SUV. Expect top-notch leather and real wood trim in the cabin with plenty of customization choices-though details are not known yet.
Not much is known about safety features and amenities to be included in the upcoming Maybach SUV from Mercedes Benz. However, those will be on par with rival contenders such as the Bentayga and it may get enhanced infotainment setup.

The surprising thing is Mercedes has finally decided to go electric for its flagship luxury SUV. While the model will get a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine as standard and a 6.0-liter V12 may also be offered, later the hybrid electric powertrain may be offered. Of course, the engines will be laden with the company’s famous 4Matic AWD setup.
2018 Mercedes-Maybach GLS – Price and Availability
Mercedes Benz has not announced any release date for the upcoming Maybach GLS luxury SUV. However, it will be sold as a 2019 model as per industry buzz. Exact pricing is not known but a price tag close to £150,000 is likely.
It is clear that Mercedes Benz is in no mood to let rivals like BMW, Rolls Royce, and Bentley Bentayga get the upper hand in luxury SUV segment. The Maybach SUV will get really powerful engines and solid styling is also expected. The car will have a steep price tag and buyers will be offered oodles of customization for amenities.
