The luxury sub brand of Japanese automaker Toyota has revamped the 2018 GX 460 model. When it comes to mid-sized luxury SUVs, most people think or talk about the German contenders like BMW X series or Land Rover models. However, over the years, the Lexus GX has also made its position consolidated in the segment. The GX was renamed GX 460 some years after its debut.
2018 Lexus GX 460 – Looks and Shape
The 2018 Lexus GX 460 looks quite stylish and macho but on closer inspection, you can trace its truck roots. It’s huge spindle grille, a trademark design trait of Lexus vehicles is there but it gets some changes for 2018. The headlamps and tail lamps both look sleek. It is sold in three trims- base, Premium, and Luxury. The cabin is spacious and material quality is almost on par with its British and German rivals. Cargo space is quite decent.
The 2018 Lexus GX 460 gets a fair dose of safety features and amenities are also on par with what segment rivals pack in. All trims get 10 airbags, rearview camera, and traction control. All trims get cruise control, moon roof, 18-inch wheels, and 8.0-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth support.
The base model can be equipped with ventilated front seats, blind-spot monitors, navigation. The infotainment system still needs polish to rivals Ford Sync 3 or GM’s popular IntelliLInk setup. Advanced safety features can be added as options forward-collision warnings, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warnings etc. You can also add surround-view cameras.
Premium trim gets heated seats, mahogany trim, navigation. The Luxury trim gets an adaptive suspension, heated steering wheel, and better leather upholstery. It can be equipped with a Mark Levinson audio setup and back seat DVD setup.
2018 Lexus GX 460 – Upgrades Under the Hood
The 2018 Lexus GX 460 is powered by a 4.6-liter V-8 engine which is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It makes 301 hp. The ride quality is good thanks to the deployment of the company’s famous Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System.

Exact release date of Lexus GX 460 2018 is not known. The base trim price begins at $51,680. Of course, options will add to this price.
The 2018 GX 460 gets some much need improvements but it still lags behind segment rivals in refinement to an extent. Price wise, the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE offers better features and even in performance, they outshine the GX 460.
