The 2018 Jeep Wrangler codenamed JL is being readied for release and spy shots of test vehicles have appeared online. FCA has confirmed the buzz the pickup version and a convertible SUV will be launched in 2018.
There are quite a number of off-road utility vehicles in a market but getting a match for the Jeep Wrangler is not easy! Made by FCA since 1986, this mid-size off-road utility vehicle has defined a niche within its segment. The influence of Willys MB of WII era is evident behind its design though it has not been admitted officially.
2018 Jeep Wrangler – Exterior and Interior Changes:
It is confirmed that the new Jeep Wrangler JL will be made in the company’s Toledo plant in Ohio. The exterior design will not be changed drastically and boxy style will be retained. However, bumpers, grilles will receive some changes and roof rails will add to the sporty look. It will come in several trims- featuring both 2 and 4 door versions. The new models will also be lighter than existing one- owing to extensive usage of aluminum. The design will also be more aerodynamic than before. Led lamps are likely to be used at both front and rear side of the car. “X-pattern” taillights may be there borrowed from sibling subcompact Jeep Renegade. The reports of Jeep discarding cumbersome removable roof with a fixed roof in 2018 Jeep Wrangler are doing the rounds.
The cabin will also get some enhancements for 2018 model year. Seats with better lumber support and larger air vents are expected. The Uconnect touch screen setup will be present too.
The 2018 Jeep Wrangler is expected to come with augmented safety features and entertainment features too. So, you can expect enhanced edition of Uconnect infotainment system with support for Bluetooth and Smartphone integration. Navigation may come standard on upper trims. All trims will get plenty of airbags and rear backup camera. Other safety features that are expected in the car include lane keep assist and stability control along with hill start assist.
2018 Jeep Wrangler – Under the Hood:
The 2018 Jeep Wrangler will get a diesel (3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6) engine and option for a turbocharged four-cylinder unit would be there too. The engines will be coupled with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission gearbox or a six-speed manual transmission unit. Industry sources indicate FCA will use 3.6-liter “Pentastar” V6 will be used in top trims. Of course, Jeep specific off-road centric technology would be used to offer better traction on rough roads. FCA may launch a hybrid power train later in 2018 for this model.
2018 Jeep Wrangler – Price and Release Date:
Upcoming Jeep Wrangler 2018 pricing is yet to be announced by FCA officially. But the price for base trim should be around $25,000. It will be released for sale in mid-2017.
New Jeep Wrangler seems to be enticing enough and it will appeal to loyalists and new buyers alike. The styling changes are nice and FCA now offers enhanced power train. Its enhanced safety features and entertainment options work in its favor.
