Hyundai Motors is among the top and popular carmakers and its 2018 Hyundai Tucson is rated as among the most popular compact SUVs. Named after the city in Arizona, Tucson sits in Hyundai lineup below sibling Santa Fe. After making debut in 2004, the Tucson has undergone a number of revamps. However, the rivals have jazzed up their offerings in recent times and so Hyundai has decided to give the Tucson another makeover for 2018. The new Tucson which is now being tested will battle it out with rivals like Kia Sportage, Mazda CX-5, and Honda CR-V.
2018 Hyundai Tucson – Redesign
On first glance, you may think 2018 Tucson looks similar to the 2017 model but that is not the case. The much touted fluidic design is there but now it is more aerodynamic. There are Led lamps and side profile is a tad different. Based on trims- you get 17 inch and larger wheels. The Australian version gets 4 trims- Active, Active X, Elite, and Highlander. USA version of 2018 Tucson gets no less than 6 trims, namely- SE, SE Plus, Sport, Eco, Limited and Night. Available exterior colors include Ruby Red, dazzling white, Caribbean Blue and Sedona sunset etc. The cabin is going to be revamped to an extent too and changes in dashboard layout are expected. Some changes in cargo capacity may be there.
2018 Hyundai Tucson – Engine
The 2018 Hyundai Tucson is offered in a number of powertrain choices. The active trim gets a 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit and six-speed automatic transmission. Higher trims can be configured with 2.0-liter turbo diesel unit and AWD. In the Elite trim, you get a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine with AWD and seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
The 2018 Hyundai Tucson comes with enhanced safety features and enough amenities. All trims get Smartphone integration.
The entry level active trim gets 17-inch alloy wheels, Projector beam headlights, LED daytime lights, 7.0-inch display, Cruise control, Roof rails, and also a reverse camera. It gets safety features like hill start assist, reverse parking sensors and airbags. Active X trim gets a leather-appointed seat, Illuminated glovebox compartment, 18-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors and gray exterior highlights.
In an Elite trim, you get dual-zone air conditioning, 8.0-inch display with sat-nav, Privacy glass, Privacy glass and keyless entry. However, in top end Highlander trims you get 19-inch alloys, ventilated front seats, panoramic glass sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, Solar control glass, Twin-tip trapezoidal exhaust, active driver aids like lane departure warning, blind spot monitor, front parking sensors, automated emergency braking etc. It also has trailer sway control function. Lower trims can be equipped with some of the top trim features at additional cost.
2018 Hyundai Tucson – Price and Release Date
The exact pricing of Hyundai Tucson 2018 is not known. However, the base trim should be priced around $23,000. It will be released soon.
The 2018 Hyundai Tucson is a decent compact SUV that gets nice enhancements in key departments. Also, the exterior styling revamps are good as are the changes in the powertrain. However, Hyundai should not increase its price much given the high competition in this segment.
