2018 Honda HR-V – Redesign Exterior and Interior

The 2018 Honda HR-V has a sleek exterior with a nice blend of sharp lines and curves on its side and front. The wraparound tail and headlamps are Led powered and new grille design adds to its aggressive look. Exterior color choices include Milano red, Misty Green Pearl, white orchid pearl etc. Three trim levels are there- LX, EX, and top end EX-L Navi.

The cabin of 2018 HR-V gets a minimal makeover. It is a 5 seater car but accommodating 5 large sized adults is a tall task. Honda uses its magic seat feature which makes cargo management a breeze. It is quite flexible.

As far as entertainment and safety features are concerned, the 2018 HR-V sits in the middle of the segment. All trims get airbags, TPMS, Multi-Angle Rearview Camera and Vehicle Stability Assist. It is a pity that you do not get advanced safety features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and blind-spot monitors-even as options. This is where rivals get the edge.

LX trim gets 17-inch wheels, power windows, Bluetooth, telescoping steering wheel, 5-inch display screen. In EX trim, you get a sunroof, automatic headlights, rear privacy glass, automatic climate control, heated front seats, Honda Lanewatch, heated side mirrors and Honda Link app compatibility. Top of the line EX-L Navi trim gets roof rails, navigation, leather upholstery, auto-dimming rearview mirror, satellite radio.

2018 Honda HR-V – Drivetrain Configuration

The 2018 Honda HR-V gets equipped with a 1.8-litre engine. It makes an output of 141 hp. The engine can be mated with a CVT or a 6-speed manual transmission unit. However, it is in sheer acceleration that the HR-V lags behind most of its category rivals. It is not nimble on highways. The sports mode does not actually make the car sportier on roads. However, the HR-V is one of the best cars in its segment as far as fuel economy goes. The ride is quiet most of the times.

2018 Honda HR-V – Price and Release Date

Exact pricing of Honda HR-V 2018 is not known. But it is expected the base trim pricing is close to $22000. Top trim price may be around $31,000.

Honda HR-V 2018 is a decent compact SUV that is light on the wallet and still offers good features and acceptable performance. The styling updates while minor are welcome additions. It gets only single engine choice and it is not a top performer. However, mileage seekers will be happy with its performance. The cargo space is not great but Honda’s magic seat features make packing easier. In safety segment, the HR-V misses out important safety features.  Despite the minor shortcomings, the HR-V offers solid value for money. It will face competition from contenders like Chevrolet Trax and Mazda CX-3.
