The urban crossover is the next big thing car makers are getting into. So Honda’s done the right thing and dived straight into it with 2018 Honda HR-V Mugen. If you want to stand out then Honda HR-V Mugen is the car for you. It is positioned lower than Honda’s CR-V and is the first subcompact crossover in the Philippines. Being an established player in the segment, Honda offers something different in the second generation HR-V. It is positioned between the BR-V and CR-V in Honda’s global portfolio.

2018 Honda HR-V Mugen – Unique Feature

Honda will introduce HR-V Mugen in three exterior color options, namely, White Orchid Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl and Rallye Red. it is well-chiseled from all sides with proportions promoting a larger metal-to-greenhouse ratio. Because of this, it looks more stylish and dynamic. It has an 85-mm ground clearance, which is generous enough, but the front bumper blade does hang quite low. Mugen gets a front grille with silver bar and glossy black air dam, front bumper extensions, dual-tone alloy wheels and black side skirts. On the base of the window, a massive roof-mounted spoiler is a decal. It’s 18-inch Mugen alloy wheels that look outrageous at first, yet grow on you over time.

The two spiced up engine versions offered by Honda are the 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine which generates 120 hp and 145 Nm of torque and the 1.8-litre i-VTEC engine which is good for 139 hp and 169 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired to a CVT with paddle shifters. The HR-V’s i-VTEC engine excels in just about any situation you throw at it. All HR-V’s are equipped with Honda’s automatic brake hold which is convenient at traffic lights. Its fuel economy is commendable, giving 9.98 km/L in the city and 16.75 km/L on the highway. However, the point to worry is the less than average 50-litre tank for those who plan to go the distance with the least amount to refueling.

The absence of physical buttons gives the vehicle a modern minimalist appeal which is sophisticated to look at. The quality and layout of its material inside are more upmarket than anything else in its class. Its seven-inch multimedia display is one of the easiest systems to navigate in the market. Space wise, its seats are roomy on the front and cozy at the back. There is no complaining about the luggage room too. When the seats are folded,  the vehicle can give you with a generous and perfectly flat boot space of about 1,665L.

All of Honda’s cars are built with safety in mind., which is very much expected with the HR-V too. Its much-appreciated safety features include electric parking brake (EPB) and the auto brake hold (ABH).

Cruise control and paddle shifters are also present to give an ultimate driving pleasure.

2018 Honda HR-V Mugen – Pricing and Release Date

There have been no official announcements, but the 2018 Honda HR-V Mugen is not expected to arrive before 2018. Since there have been few changes in this model, the base price for its basic model will be $20,000.

The vehicle lives up to its expectations as an individual yet fun to ride choice for people who work hard and party harder.
