The 2018 Ford Kuga has received some changes both in a cabin and outside. In last few years, several new counters have appeared on the horizon in the compact SUV segment. Ford which is a leader in SUVs, cannot sit content. The Kuga, Ford’s compact SUV was not much popular when it was unveiled. Its driving experience and utility did not go down well with buyers. However, Ford is set to revamp the Kuga and the 2018 model is ready for production. It will lock horns with segment rivals like Volkswagen Tiguan, Mazda CX-5, and Honda CR-V.

2018 Ford Kuga – Unique Feature

The 2018 Ford Kuga has got styling revamp and it does look better than the earlier model. Traces of design cues taken from cousin EcoSport are evident. The hexagonal grille and angular led lights look quite familiar. There are 6 trims-Zetec, Titanium, ST-Line, Titanium-X, ST-Line-X and top end Vignale. It will be sold in some enticing hues.

The cabin of 2018 Ford Kuga has been revamped- although not in a comprehensive way. The dashboard layout is fresh and it looks better. You get some soft-touch materials but the center console is made of glossy plastic that looks somewhat cheap. The cabin has enough headroom at both rows of seats. There are small item storage places scattered in the cabin. You get 12 v socket. The 2018 Kuga gets a 456-litre boot which is average.

In terms of amenities, the 2018 Kuga is good but gets stiff competition from rivals like VW Tiguan. The base Zetec trim gets 17” alloy wheels, Ford SYNC 3 infotainment setup, Cruise control, Keyless start. In Titanium trim you get SYNC 3 with 8” touch display unit, Navigation, Rain-sensing wipers, Electronic parking brake and Keyless entry. ST-Line trim gets 18-inch alloy wheels, Enhanced Active Park Assist, Black Roof Rails, Sports suspension. Titanium X trim gets Full Salerno Leather, Panoramic Roof, Bi-Xenon headlamps, Power tailgate. ST-Line X trim is equipped with 19” Black alloy wheels, power adjustable driver’s seat, Heated seating. Top end Vignale trim gets body styling kit, LED tail lamps, Vignale leather steering wheels, Full leather seats, Sony premium sound system, Quickclear heated windscreen and Rear view camera.

All trims get airbags, TPMS and stability control system. Options include blind-spot warning and automatic city collision avoidance system.

2018 Ford Kuga – Speculated Powertrains

The Ford Kuga 2018 comes with some engine choices. The 2.0-liter Diesel engine is what most buyers will opt for. It can be equipped with outputs- 178 or 148 hp. A turbo charged 1.5-litre gasoline unit is also there with varying output options. Ride quality is decent and the Kuga can handle bumps and potholes well. Body roll is negligible but the cabin noise is a bit more than what you experience in other models.

2018 Ford Kuga – Price and Release Date

The 2018 Ford Kuga may be released in early 2018. The pricing may start at £22,000. The styling upgrades are good and engine choices are nice. However, it faces competition in cargo space and refinements from most segment rivals.
