2018 Ford Explorer – Redesign Design and Features
The upcoming Ford Explorer 2018 has been spied testing at several locations in recent times. The test car may not look drastically different from the existing one but Ford has revamped it in subtle ways, both outside and inside. The front side gets a revamped grille and headlamps have also been redesigned. The car now looks sleeker and stylish. The rear side now sports taillights like those used in the Durango. Even the rear bumper has been revised. The car is now based on a D6 platform which will be used to make Ford and Lincoln models in near future. It will get 18-inch alloy wheels. It may get 5 trims.
The cabin of upcoming 6th generation Explorer will also be revamped. You can expect better seats and more cargo space, among other changes. The new car is going to be lightweight, as per latest reports. This is going to be made possible owing to a usage of high-strength steel and aluminum.
2018 Ford Explorer – Whole Power Unit
The engines are not likely to e altered in 2018 model though their output may be enhanced. The 3.5-liter six-cylinder unit will be offered and top trim will get a 2.3-liter turbocharged engine. It is not clear if Explorer will also get 10-speed automatic transmission gearbox that has been used in the Mustang.
The 2018 Explorer will get plenty of safety features. You can expect parking assist, line-departure warning system, adaptive cruise control, stability control, and traction control and a rear-view camera. Amenities will include automatic climate control, satellite radio and Bluetooth etc.
2018 Ford Explorer – Price and Release Date
The 2018 Ford Explorer pricing is going to be around $32,000 for base trim. It will be made available in late 2017.
