Modern concept and plenty of space inside the cabin are what make Chevrolet Captiva so special. It is still in the first generation, although it is 10 years old. Well, we had a Series II of the SUV started in 2011. Now, the 2018 Chevy Captiva is bringing a revisit, but it is still not launching the new generation.
Changes for this redesign will be modest. No radical changes are prepared for 2018 Captiva. But, minor updates all around the vehicle will make it different than its predecessor. Driving quality is also improved with the new tuning of suspension and engine. Sadly, there are no new additions for drivetrains.
2018 Chevy Captiva Styling and Changes
For Chevrolet, Captiva has become a synonym for success in design. Some could compare this crossover to a minivan. The inner space of 2018 Chevy Captiva is not so inferior compared to vans. Contrary, in Captiva it is abundant. The second row can accommodate three adults. There are seats in the third row also, but these are not recommended for persons taller than 170 cm. It is better to fold seats and make more space for the trunk.
If we just compare dimensions of 2018 Chevrolet Captiva to other models in compact SUV class we can see this is a huge crossover. It will transport seven passengers without major problems. In addition to the more attractive exterior design, 2018 Captiva significantly improved its materials in the cabin. Also, the crossover is using more aluminum and carbon-fiber, which will make it lighter. Furthermore, it will boost overall driving impression and mileage.
2018 Chevy Captiva Specs and Performance
Once again, Chevrolet will offer four engines for new Captiva. These are coming in combination with manual or automatic 6-speed transmissions. The major weakness of the crossover is its 4×2 drive. Well, it is not so bad, but some buyers would like to see a 4×4 model.
Customers will choose between two gas and two diesel engines. The first one we introduce is a 2.4-liter petrol drivetrain that generates 170 hp and 170 pound-feet of torque. It took 10 seconds to reach 60 mph and consumed 9 liters of gas in combined drive. The more powerful 3.0-liter V-6 petrol with 190 hp and 215 lb-ft of torque can do the same in less than nine seconds. However, it consumes almost 10 liters per hundred kilometers.
Diesel engines for 2018 Chevy Captiva
We believe that a 2.2-liter diesel unit will be the most popular models on European markets. There are two of these for 2018 Chevrolet Captiva. A smaller displacement, 2.0-liter, can produce 165 hp and 60 lb-ft of torque. The more powerful 2.2-l unit is up with 190 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are consuming around 6.5 liters of diesel per 100 km.
2018 Chevy Captiva price
The price of the 2018 Chevy Captiva will start from $25,000. However, the carmaker is preparing serious updates on trim levels, so new Captiva will go up and over $30,000. Nevertheless, we are waiting for official pricing for the SUV, as well as the release date.
