2018 Cadillac XT5 Release Date, Price, Specs

Of late, company has been trying to spread its foothold in luxury car segment and the new 2018 Cadillac XT5 crossover is a proof of that effort. The model has got a revamp for 2018 and it now comes with lightweight construction, fresh styling and oodles of luxury features. As the replacement of the company’s SRX, which was quite popular, the XT5 has a lot of tasks to accomplish. Upon release, it will lock horns with popular rivals like Lexus RX 350 and Lincoln MKX.

Like other Cadillac models, the XT5 2018 comes with a style that commands attention- whether you like it or not is a separate issue! The typical high nose front and Cadillac grille are there- all oozing masculine and dramatic appeal. It will come in 4 trims- XT5, Luxury, Premium Luxury, and top-end Platinum.

Step inside the cabin and you will fall in love with the quality of materials and attention to detail. The upholstery finish is excellent and soft-touch surfaces abound. Base trim gets leatherette surfaces and higher trim buyers get customization choices and as expected Platinum trim gets the best materials. The wood used in the cabin is of excellent quality. The cabin is quite roomy and rear seat passengers will not grudge about space at all, even tall ones. Two USB ports at back row are also useful. Cargo room is good but not category best. The cabin is also very quiet.

2018 Cadillac XT5 – Drivetrain Configuration

While GM has not confirmed it, the 2018 Cadillac XT5 is likely to use the same powertrain used in its predecessor. So, the powerful 3.6-liter V-6 engine with 310 hp. The eight-speed automatic transmission may be retained, though. Except for base trims, all others get AWD as standard. All trims also get automatic engine stop and start feature.


Like all Cadillac models, the 2018 XT5 also comes laden with tip safety features and oodles of luxury inside. Standard safety features are stability control, airbags, antilock disc brakes, OnStar support inclusive of automatic crash notification, stolen vehicle assistance and remote door unlocking. Optional and advanced safety features are Driver Assist and Driver Awareness packages. These bring in lane keep assist, automatic park assist, adaptive cruise control, side blind zone alert, automatic braking in low speed. Collision mitigation is optional in Platinum and also Premium Luxury trims. The Platinum trim also gets a useful rear camera mirror.

All 2018 XT5 trims come equipped with updated version of Cadillac user interface infotainment system. CUE now works better and faster. Full Smartphone integration is there as is support for Bluetooth streaming. All trims get plenty of amenities.

The base XT5 gets 18-inch wheels, rearview camera, automatic headlights, dual-zone automatic climate control, remote engine start and also keyless ignition. It also gets satellite radio and Bose eight-speaker sound setup. Luxury trim gets heated front seats, heated steering wheel, auto-dimming rearview mirror, interior accent lighting, cargo management system etc. Premium Luxury trim gets Driver Awareness package along with navigation, illuminated door handles, 20-inch wheels and ventilated front seats. Top end Platinum trim gets upgraded leather upholstery, premium floor mats, three-zone climate control, top-view camera system and Advanced Security package.

2018 Cadillac XT5 – Price and Release Date

The pricing of 2018 Cadillac XT5 is not revealed.  But the base trim should be priced close to $40,000. It will be unveiled in late 2017.

However, the 2018 Cadillac XT5 is a well-designed luxury crossover that gets most things right. The bold design, lavish cabin and plenty of amenities will entice target buyers. With right pricing, it can steal the thunder of rivals like BMW X3 and Audi Q5.
