The 2018 Cadillac Escalade is stylish and luxurious to the hilt though the aggressive styling may not be suited for all. The Escalade will combat rivals like Land Rover Range Rover and the venerable Audi Q7.
2018 Cadillac Escalade – Design and Features
The flagship SUV from Cadillac, the Escalade is sure to draw attention wherever it goes with its bold, on your face exterior styling. The boxy build and truck origin are evident but it is impressive nonetheless with oodles of chrome outside. It will be launched in 4 trims- base, Luxury, Premium Luxury and a range topping Platinum. The car looks even more gorgeous if you opt for the 22” premium painted wheels. The Invisible Rear Wiper is a thoughtful addition.
The cabin is as lavish as you can get. Even the base trim gets plenty of leather and wood inside. The Platinum trim comes with excellent quality leather upholstery and you also get customization choices. The third row, however, is not ideal for adults. Cargo capacity is decent but high load floor is somewhat cumbersome to use, more so for people with short height.
2018 Cadillac Escalade – Engine Output
The 2018 Cadillac Escalade is likely to use the same 6.2-liter V8 engine with 420 hp. It gets an eight-speed automatic transmission gearbox. Ride quality is a tad short of luxurious rivals from stables of Audi and BMW but opting for the Magnetic Ride Control suspension improves the experience. While cabin remains mostly quiet, the sheer size makes it hard to maneuver in pesky urban traffic.
The 2018 Cadillac Escalade is equipped with most required safety features and geeks will love the updated CUE infotainment system. While CUE is not what you will call flawless, response to inputs and speed has improved by leaps and bounds. Smartphone support is also there as is support for Bluetooth streaming. The interior rearview mirror is actually a high-resolution display aided by a camera placed on a tailgate of The SUV. Safety features include stability control, antilock disc brakes, airbags, teen-driver management system and parking sensors. Luxury and above trims get features like forwarding collision alert, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring. Top trim gets adaptive cruise control along with automatic braking system. Since the Escalades have elevated theft rates, GM has included plenty of security features.
OnStar system is there with LTE connectivity for 7 devices. The rear seat entertainment setup is also nice. All trims get LED headlights, automatic windshield wipers, cruise control, remote ignition, keyless entry, auto-dimming outside mirrors. You also get three-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and 110-volt power outlet and driver seat memory functions. In luxury trim, you get 22-inch wheels, sunroof, and adaptive headlights. The Premium Luxury trim gets adaptive cruise control and rear-seat entertainment system. The Platinum trim gets unique exterior styling, premium leather upholstery, cooled center console bin, dual rear entertainment screens etc. Except for the Platinum trim, all trims can be equipped with the Radiant Package.
2018 Cadillac Escalade – Price and Release Date
The official pricing of 2018 Cadillac Escalade is not known. But the base trim pricing may be close to $74,500 and Platinum trim will be priced above $90,000. It will have late 2017 release date.
The 2018 Cadillac Escalade is a nice large luxury SUV with excellent amenities and bold styling. It has a steep price tag but you get plenty for the price as well.
