Audi is among the luxury carmakers that are planning to expand car portfolio for 2018 and subsequent years. The carmaker is planning to add more models in its Q series. The 2018 Audi Q8 is shaping up for production. The Concept version was displayed at the Detroit Auto Show earlier where it managed to hog headlines.
The buzz has becomes stronger ever since the test version of the Q8 was spotted at Nürburgring. It may be launched I final version either in 2018 or 2019. It will be pitted against rivals like Porsche Cayenne and the venerable BMW X6.
2018 Audi Q8 – Exterior Expectations and Luxurious Interior Design
The Upcoming Q8 is Audi’s take on a full sized Luxury SUV crossover that is aimed at buyers who want no compromise luxury vehicle with sheer power and all amenities. This car is going to be manufactured on the same platform on which the present flagship Audi Q7 is built but has 4 seats inside. This means interior space and cargo storage is going to be huge.
The test car images indicate the final version will not be drastically different from the concept vehicle shown earlier. The vehicle is quite enticing and exterior styling is bold- beyond any doubt. It’s sleek looking octagon-shape grill with honeycomb design, wedge-shaped headlights look stylish.
At the rear Audi has used a strip of lights horizontally. The same strip works as brake light and tail lamp as well as turn indicators. The cabin includes enhanced version of Audi’s much-touted virtual cockpit and head-up display. Lavish leather upholstery choice and dark LED lights are also there in the cabin. It may get a few trims.
The upcoming 2018 Audi Q8 will be loaded with safety features and amenities. Apart from multiple airbags, traction control and rear view camera, you can expect blind spot monitor and lane keep assist.
2018 Audi Q8 – Powerful Engine and Performance
The upcoming 2018 Audi Q8 is going to be powered by a hybrid powertrain. The car will have a 333 hp combustion engine along with the 100kW electric motor. The engines will be coupled with an eight-speed transmission and get three drive modes. Audi says top speed will be 155 mph while it will take 5.4 seconds to reach 62 mph.
On pure battery power, the 2018 Q8 can run for 37.3 miles which are impressive for a large sized SUV. Technologies like adaptive air sports suspension and wheel-selective torque control while enhancing ride quality. Audi may also use various noise cancellation tech to ensure cabin remains quiet.
2018 Audi Q8 – Price and Availability
The exact price and release date of upcoming 2018 Audi Q8 is unknown. But it will be priced higher than the Q7 for sure. Expected release date is sometimes in 2018.
The Audi Q8 2018 is going to be an important vehicle for the luxury carmaker. Based on VW group’s famous MLB platform it will sit above the Q7. This vehicle will enable Audi to take on premium luxury class rivals like Maserati Levante and Mercedes GLE Coupe. It will also be Audi’s first big effort at making a Hybrid luxury SUV.
