Without the show, Acura refreshed its mid-size 7-seater crossover, the restyled MDX 2018. As expected, with the latest changes of the model, MDX received a new, more aggressive corporate image. Now, it will consume less fuel.

We have a full pricing list for the 2018 Acura MDX. The luxury SUV costs $45,000 for base models. The vehicle is available only at one level, but many optional packages and additions are available for upgrading. It will easily go over $50,000.
With such price, the new Acura MDX is going to compete with the Buick Enclave and Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. However, the price of the hybrid version is unknown yet. Experts believe it will be available soon, and that plug-in MDX crossover will carry a price tag of around $50,000.
2018 Acura MDX Hybrid Drivetrain
Under the hood of the 2018 Acura MDX is a 3.5-liter V-6 drivetrain. This unit is good for 290 horses by using a direct injection technology. Also, it features VTEC and VCM systems. The powertrain is paired with a 9-speed auto gearbox. Smooth shifting is coming with SportShift paddle. There are two modes, sport and economical. At 4700 rpm, the new Acura MDX can produce 270 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy is reasonable for such high amount of power, with 22 mpg combined for FWD mode. An all-wheel-drive offers 1 mile fewer.
Acura hasn’t confirmed yet what kind of combination will be used for a plug-in mix. We believe that the same 3.5-liter unit will be the main source of power. Also, not big electric motors will help it. Furthermore, we can’t expect a big boost on mileage or power output for 2018 edition. In future, the company could develop the more efficient system, that will raise a combined fuel economy above 30 mpg. For now, we will be happy to see 2018 Acura MDX at around 27 mpg of combined driving.
2018 Acura MDX Hybrid Styling and Features
The 2018 Acura MDX Hybrid will suffer a redesign. The exterior will get some changes, but overall shape remains familiar.
