The Honda CR-V is a well-sold vehicle by the Honda Company. It is only a matter of time until it becomes one of the best-selling among the rest of the vehicles. It will have a new platform, and there are speculations that it has its basis on the Honda Civic. The 2017 Honda CR-V will possibly have some other elements too, from the Honda Civic. Moreover, there is a confirmation that the new model will be bigger and better than the previous model, and might also have a third-row seating available, deliberately increasing the passenger carrying capacity.
2017 Honda CR-V – Design and Features:
Honda has come up with a more premium and a distinctive look for the 2017 Honda CR-V. A lot more chrome is at the front of the vehicle. The grille has a new design, which is now a single bar a lot like the one used in Honda Civic and Accord. The shape of the grille is hexagonal. For the first time, Honda has introduced an automatic shutter system for the grille that helps reduce the aerodynamic drag. The headlights make use of LEDs and are thinner and smarter than before. LEDs are daytime running lights. They are present at the front, on each side of the grille and the fog lights are a littler lower than the headlights.
Usage of chrome on the exterior gives a vehicle very sophisticated and a classy look. The lower door panels, the roof and the window trim on the side are all covered in chrome. The new model is also a lot curvier than the previous model. A window on the rear side has been redesigned to complement the new taillights that are added. The tail lights run along the vertical outer edge of the gate as well as horizontally beneath the glass of the tailgate. The license plate is now located a little bit lower.
The length of the wheelbase has also been increased. It is now 104.7-inch long, and that is almost 1.6-inch longer than the earlier wheelbase. Hence, there is an increase in the passenger carrying capacity, and the ride is also more comfortable. Moreover, the there will be more room for the rear seats and passengers will fit in comfortably.
There is an addition of more features on the inside, and overall look of the interior has also been changed quite a bit. The passenger seats are covered in leather, and there is a lot of use of the wooden patterns here and there. There was a toggle switch in the previous mode, which is replaced by a volume knob this time. A 7-inch touch screen is also present for information and entertainment purposes. It is a lot more like the Honda Civic. The system is compatible with the Apple CarPlay and the Android Auto, so the phonebook, etc. are automatically downloaded, and a voice recognition feature is also present to aid with hands-free calling. The gear for climate control is located right below the touch screen.
The tailgating system has also been hands-free. A sensor is present, which activates and the tailgate opens up whenever a foot comes near to it. The parking brake is electronic now; two climate zones are available, and the engine can be started with a remote. There are additional safety features too including but not limited to the collision-mitigated brake, an adaptive cruise control and a feature that assists you to stay in your lane. This assist has a blind spot information system instead of the lane watch system. It will make use of radar sensors present on the body of the 2017 Honda CR-V.
