The X5 is nowhere near short on its powertrain selection. Starting from turbocharged inline-6 allows for a horsepower and torque (pound-feet) in 300. These are offered in two configuration types: Rear and AWD. The engine’s torque has the ability to peak at 1200 rpm and go up to 5000 rpm.

Fuel economy is still not strong as compared to competitor luxury SUV options. EPA testing is still required to evaluate how fuel economy is rated for this model.

The basic system for energy recovery, braking and start/stop is standard in all BMW X5 series. The engines have been developed by a Bavarian automaker. The automaker allows for selection of petrol or diesel powertrains.
